Crux

Arrows of black from a bow of horn
Sharp-tongued heralds carrying songs of scorn
The lioness lies down with the lord of nines
And seven daughters ride on fourteen tines

A quartered moon bleeds upon that red tide
That out of night, Spring might claim his green bride
Only to fall upon that path of thorn
Fed to arrows of black, from a bow of horn
